Past Projects
Skrappy's
A four-year partnership with local Skrappy's Youth Center, the Skrappy's Project put SIFE students at the helm of the enterpreneurship world where they were given the opportunity to deliver workshops and mentor artistic underprivileged youth to sell their artwork. This financial literacy project created sustainable business knowledge for the youth that in turn has led to a hopeful business venture for the Skrappy's Youth Center.
Duel in the Dumpster
Our SIFE team partnered with Terracycle to host a very unique competition for other SIFE teams around the United States. They were challenged to create a product from post-consumer waste like juice pouches and cookie wrappers. One of the products created was a raincoat made out of Capri Sun pouches.
Emerging Entrepreneurs
UA SIFE traveled to Nigeria and taught young women about entrepreneurship. These Nigerian women learned about topics such as inventory, marketing, product placement, and customer service. Throughout this project the team developed an internship program, which included activity-based worksheets that were completed with the help of business owners throughout the Nigerian community.
Civano
Students formed a Terracycle brigade to collect over 1300 wrappers that they sold to Terracycle. Throughout this process we taught the elementary students business concepts such as inventory, finance, management etc. Now they their run their own business. Their goal is to purchase a commercial kitchen.
